Emergency Response by the Dental Team

AGD Members can bring one (1) staff team member for free (any additional are $10). If the doctor and/or staff member(s) do not show up, they will be charged $40 per person. Doctors who are not AGD Members are not eligible staff members. Staff members are dental hygienists, dental assistants, and front office staff.

Course Description: By attending this course, you will complete your Healthcare Provider level CPR renewal course. In addition, we will address emergency equipment, supplies, and medications needed in your office and what the role of the dental team is during a medical emergency.

Course Objectives:

1. The attendees will review, demonstrate, and pass a written exam on Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support skills (CPR for adult, child, infant, choking, and AED) for Healthcare Providers.
2. The attendees will develop an emergency response plan for their dental office.
3. The attendees will be able to adequately respond to common emergencies that occur in dental offices.

About the Speaker: Dr. Eckman’s diverse medical career has spanned over 35 years and has encompassed working in Home Health, Adolescent Psychiatry, Combat Army Medic, Pediatric Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, and Dentistry. Currently, as a General Dentist, he provides sedation dentistry which includes IV sedation. During his time in and out of the hospital, he unfortunately has had many opportunities to demonstrate Basic Life Support skills during real emergencies. His family includes Thor, an ASU student majoring in Mathematics and Chemistry and Krew, a high school freshman with a love of technology. He has also had the pleasure of being married to Vanessa for over 31 years.
