Surgical Placement of Dental Implants: A Restorative-Driven Approach : 2022 VAGD Annual Conference

Course Description and Objectives: 

1. Diagnose and treatment plan single unit cases to create emergence profile and smile design

2. How to be proficient, efficient and financially rewarded through implant dentistry 

3. Discussion of how to implement posterior, single unit implant prosthetics: the two-appointment implant restoration 

4. Administer techniques for proper atraumatic extractions and grafting for future implant sites

5. Ridge splitting to prepare for immediate implant placement

6. Detailed discussion of full-arch implant restorations: implant screw-retained, fixed-detachable bridge

7. Technology upgrades in re-treating a hybrid prosthesis 

8. Chairside processing of attachments for implant retained overdentures 

9. Trephine removal of a damaged implant. Treating the “failed” implant

This course will demonstrate practical step-by-step protocols in ideal dental implant surgical placement and various designs and treatment plans for prosthetic reconstruction. Attendees will leave with a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of implant dentistry to their patients. 

We will have team breakout sessions from 1:00pm-4:00pm.

TIMOTHY F. KOSINSKI, M.S., D.D.S. 


Dr. Timothy Kosinski is an Affiliated Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and serves on the editorial review board of Reality, the information source for esthetic dentistry and is the past editor of the Michigan Academy of General Dentistry. He is currently the Editor of the AGD journals General Dentistry and AGD Impact, and was named editor of IMPLANTS TODAY,  the implant publications of DENTISTRY TODAY. He is a Past-President of the Michigan Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kosinski received his DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School and his Mastership in Biochemistry from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and received his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Kosinski has received many honors including Fellowship in the American and International Colleges of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International. In 2017 he received the Academy of Dentistry International’s Humanitarian Award “in recognition of significant contributions to the enhancement of the quality of life and the human condition.” He is a member of OKU and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Kosinski was the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry Alumni Association’s “Alumnus of the Year,” and in 2009, 2014 and 2020 received the Academy of General Dentistry’s “Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition.” Dr. Kosinski has placed over 15,000 dental implants and published over 210 articles on the surgical and prosthetic phases of implant dentistry and was a contributor to the textbooks, Principles and Practices of Implant Dentistry, and 2010’s Dental Implantation and Technology.

Event Details:

There is ample, free parking in front of the facility.

Registration opens at 8:00 am, courses to begin promptly at 8:30 am.

Continental breakfast, coffee, soft drinks, and water will be available throughout the day.

Lunch will be provided.

There is a room block reserved for the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry for $129/night, must book before November 17th.

COVID Protocol:

The Virginia AGD is excited to welcome attendees back in-person. We will be following the current mandates as directed by the state of Virginia to ensure the safety of all who are participating. Our expectations will be consistent with CDC guidelines which encourage frequent hand washing and face coverings for anyone who is not vaccinated.

Attendees will find hand sanitizer stations set up throughout the event venue, extra masks available at any time, and weather permitting we will have tables and chairs set up outside for meals and sitting down with colleagues.  

We ask that anyone who is not feeling well leading up to the events please stay home out of consideration for all who are attending.   

Event Cancellation Policy:In the event that an in-person meeting is no longer a safe option, full refunds will only be given up to 30 days before the course. If the course is held as scheduled and a refund is requested within 30 days of the course, a credit will be applied to the registrants account for use toward a future VAGD program.

The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by the AGD for Fellowship/Mastership and membership maintenance credit.
