Course Title: Tobacco, E-Cigs, & Marijuana: Subject code: 158 Tobacco Cessation

Course Description: This course will provide an overview of tobacco cessation, e-cigarettes and marijuana use. This course will also provide the methods of tobacco cessation and discuss motivational interviewing. The aim of this course is to prepare the dental health professional to effectively and positively influence patients who use tobacco. This course meets the BODEX standards of licensure renewal for chemical dependency.

Course Objectives:

- Refresh concepts of tobacco cessation

- Discuss effective strategies to motivational interviewing

- Overview of E-cigarettes

- Overview of Marijuana and its effect on dentistry

Speaker Bio: Dr. Mai-Ly (My-Lee) Duong, DMD, MPH, MEd, MAGD, FACD, FICD, FPFA, FSCD received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) from A.T. Still University. She completed a Masters in Education (MAEd) with a dental emphasis from the University of the Pacific. She serves as a full-time Associate Professor and Director of Special Care Dentistry at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health The Center for Advanced Oral Health. She works to support students, residents, and faculty treating individuals with special needs and complex medical conditions. She also works as a part-time associate dentist at Sundance Dental Care.

Her many accomplishments and contributions to the dental profession has earned her recognition as a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), Fellowship in the Special Care Dentistry Association (FSCD), Fellowship in the American College of Dentists (FACD), Fellowship in the International College of Dentists (FICD), and Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).

Arizona AGD is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by the AGD for Fellowship/Mastership and membership maintenance credit. Approval does not imply acceptance by a state or provincial board of dentistry or AGD endorsement. The current term of approval extends from January 2, 2023 to January 1, 2027. Provider ID# 219287
