January 27, 2023 1:30 PM - 09:30 PM (GMT)
Did you know, dentistry's scope, role & responsibility extends beyond just comparing ante & post mortem x-rays. This course will discuss the importance of all DHCP’s legal role & responsibility to organizations that cover local, provincial, national & international Laws & Acts plus ramifications for not abiding by these governmental and RCDSO Acts. Protocols on the “how to” of releasing DHCP records to the proper authorities in civil, community mass casualty events or criminal cases are key but also knowing who are the ‘proper authorities’?
Most important is the recognition of suspected injuries & patterns in abused & trafficked patients then how to collect evidentiary clinical and/or digitised (recordkeeping) information on suspected victims of abuse or violence. That is as easy as asking 4 simple “Yes’ or ‘No’ questions.

Dr. Frank Stechey
Dr. Stechey is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (1967) and obtained his DDS at Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry (1971). For over 50 years, he has had keen interests in explaining how all general & specialist dentists can recognise key signs of all traumatic injuries and determine if they are as a result of accidents or violence and how injury patterns can be used to protect all patients. His 40+ years of training and experience in ‘forensics’ have qualified him as a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) and a recognized Court expert witness and consultant with investigations covering both civil and criminal cases of: homicides, mass disaster training & response, human trafficking, domestic violence, partner, spousal & senior abuse, but especially child abuse with multi-disciplinary team partners in hospitals, Children's Aid Societies, women’s shelters and police services throughout Ontario and North America. During the World Trade Center terrorist attack in 2001, 256 forensic dentists worked months to identify the victims. Dr. Stechey was the first foreign and only Canadian dentist invited to join New York City’s dental identification team.
